Welcome to Cysigns! This Privacy Policy explains how Cysigns collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our web application, Cysigns (the "Service"). Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the Service.

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date of this Privacy Policy. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect on the Service includes:

A. Personal Data You Provide to Us:

Account Information: When you create an account with your email address or with Google or Apple sign-in (managed through Clerk), we may collect personal information such as your name, email address, and profile picture, as provided by your chosen sign-in method.
Account Created at Checkout: If you buy Pro without being signed in, we use the email address you enter at Stripe checkout to create your CySigns account, or to add Pro to an existing account with that email address. You then sign in with a one-time code sent to that email address.
Payment Information: When you make a purchase to access premium features, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details. We receive confirmation of payment and the information needed to associate the payment with your account (user ID, email address, amount, payment status and the checkout session ID).
Exam Date (optional): If you tell us when your theory test is, we store that date with your account to show how many days you have left and to time our emails. You can change or remove it at any time.
Lesson Requests (optional): If you ask for driving lessons through our "Need driving lessons?" form, we collect your name, your phone number and/or email address, your city, the lesson language and gearbox you want, and any message you write. If you are signed in, we also link the request to your account ID. To stop abuse, we store a one-way hash of your IP address with the request and allow a limited number of requests per day.

B. Data Collected Automatically:

IP Address: We use your IP address to enforce the daily quiz limit for visitors who are not signed in. This is temporarily stored or processed to determine if you have exceeded the allowed quiz attempts within a specific period. For signed-in users, the limit is counted per account instead.
Quiz Activity: When you are signed in, we store your quiz results and progress with your account to show your progress and readiness score, and to check claims under the pass guarantee in our Terms of Use.
Usage Data (Analytics): We use third-party analytics services, including Google Analytics and Amplitude, to collect information about your use of the Service. This may include:
- Pages you visit, features you use, and the time, frequency, and duration of your activities.
- Information about the device and browser you use to access the Service (e.g., device type, operating system, browser type, IP address for geolocation purposes by the analytics provider).
- Referral sources (how you arrived at our Service).
- When you are signed in, these events are linked to your account ID.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We and our third-party partners (like Google Analytics and Amplitude) may use cookies, web beacons, tracking pixels, and other tracking technologies to help customize the Service and improve your experience. Most browsers are set to accept cookies by default. You can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies. Please note that if you choose to remove or reject cookies, this could affect the availability and functionality of the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

Having accurate information permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the Service to:

Create and manage your account.
Process your payments and grant access to premium features, including creating your account from the email address you use at checkout.
Check claims under the pass guarantee.
Pass your lesson request to driving schools in your city, when you ask us to.
Provide, operate, and maintain our Service.
Enforce daily quiz limits for free users (by IP address for visitors, by account for signed-in users).
Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the Service (using Google Analytics and Amplitude).
Understand how users interact with our Service to develop new products, services, features, and functionality.
Communicate with you, including for customer service and to provide you with updates and other information relating to the Service.
Send you emails about your account and your preparation for the theory test: tips during your free Pro trial and when it ends, reminders before and after the exam date you set, notes on your readiness, offers to buy Pro, and help after you buy it. We send them because you created an account to prepare for the test with us (legitimate interest). Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link; after you unsubscribe, we only email you about a purchase you make.
Measure whether our emails help: we record which email we sent you and when, and when you click a link in it. A small random group of accounts does not receive promotional emails, so we can compare.
Prevent fraudulent transactions, monitor against theft, and protect against criminal activity.
Comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Your Information

We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations. Your information may be disclosed as follows:

- By Law or to Protect Rights:

If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.

- Driving Schools (Lesson Requests):

When you send a lesson request and agree to it in the form, we share your request (name, phone number and/or email address, city, lesson language, gearbox and message) with up to 3 driving schools in the city you chose, so they can contact you about lessons. We send it to the schools by email or WhatsApp. Each school then handles your details under its own responsibility.

- Insurance Partner Links:

Some pages may link to an insurance company or broker so you can get a quote from them. We only link out: we do not share any of your personal data with them. The link only tells them that you came from CySigns. Anything you enter on their website is covered by their own privacy policy.

- Third-Party Service Providers:

We may share your information with third parties that perform services for us or on our behalf, including:

Authentication: Clerk (for user accounts and sign-in with email, Google or Apple).
Payment Processing: Stripe (for handling payments securely).
Payment Notifications: Telegram (we receive an internal notification with the buyer's email address when a payment is made).
Lesson Request Notifications: Telegram (we receive an internal notification with the details of each lesson request so we can pass it to driving schools).
Analytics: Google Analytics and Amplitude (for understanding Service usage).
Hosting and Infrastructure: Cloudflare (for hosting the application and database, and for sending our emails).
Community (optional): Telegram. If you choose to join our private learners community after purchasing Pro, you do so via Telegram. Joining is entirely optional, and your use of Telegram is governed by Telegram's own privacy policy.

These service providers are authorized to use your personal information only as necessary to provide these services to us and are obligated to protect your information.

- Business Transfers:

We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.

Note: We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

Records of the emails we send you (which email and when) are kept while your account exists.

Lesson requests are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted. To have your request deleted sooner, email us at the address in "Contact Us". We will delete it and ask the driving schools we shared it with to delete it too.

Usage data collected for analytics purposes is generally retained for a shorter period, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Service, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.

5. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. Any information disclosed online is vulnerable to interception and misuse by unauthorized parties.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

The right to access – You can request copies of your personal data.
